The use of paper-core air filters in modern car engines is becoming increasingly common, yet some drivers still hold prejudices against them, believing their filtration efficiency is poor.
In fact, paper-core air filters have several advantages over oil-bath air filters: First, their filtration efficiency is as high as 99.5% (compared to 98% for oil-bath filters), with a dust penetration rate of only 0.1%–0.3%; second, their compact structure allows for installation in any location, unrestricted by vehicle component layout; third, they do not consume fuel during maintenance, saving significant amounts of cotton yarn, felt, and metal materials; and fourth, they are lightweight and low-cost. Therefore, drivers can use them with confidence.
The key to using paper-core air filters effectively is maintaining their sealing performance, preventing unfiltered air from bypassing the filter and entering the engine cylinders.
